To get Locked Treasure Chests for the Barbania Set in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Hunter must do business with the Argosy, a shop-like feature where players can order items by sending out their Buddies. More specifically, Sunbreak fans must use a mechanic known as Backroom Deals, which grants Trade Requests a slight chance to yield Locked Treasure Chests.

Backroom Deals functions somewhat similarly to the Hopping Skewers mechanic of ordering Dango. Players can toggle the option for Backroom Deals to be active or inactive without worrying about any limited uses. However, this mechanic only becomes available after Hunters reach Master Rank 4. Therefore, fans will need to complete several quests and progress through the expansion’s story to unlock Backroom Deals in Monster Hunter Rise. After attaining MR4, Hunters can visit Nagi the Buddy Agent in Elgado Outpost to access the Argosy. To active Backroom Deals for a Trade Request, select the empty box below a Buddy’s icon to toggle the mechanic.

As mentioned above, activating Backroom Deals does not guarantee that Hunters will receive a Locked Treasure Chest in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Instead, it is an RNG-based chance that the Trade Request will yield Melding Pudding, MP Accelerant, or Locked Treasure Chests, along with the rest of the ordered items. Keep in mind that these three Backroom Dealt materials will take up one to several slots in the Trade Requests. Nevertheless, players should not have to do too many orders before they receive a Locked Treasure Chest. After acquiring Locked Treasure Chests ×6, Hunters can visit the Smithy in Kamura Village or Elgado Outpost and craft the Barbania Set.

Monster Hunter Rise is available on PC and Nintendo Switch.
