Pick of the day: Queens Of Rap

10pm, Channel 4

A rap song with sexually explicit lyrics? Male hip-hop artists have been making them for decades. During lockdown however two female rappers – Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B – broke the internet with music video for their duet “WAP” (look up the initials for yourselves), an unabashed celebration of female sexuality. Podcaster Poppy Begum heads over to Houston and New York – the home towns of the “WAP” stars, and discovers opinions divided. Were Megan and Cardi reclaiming female sexuality from the objectifying male gaze? British broadcaster Zeze Millz thinks otherwise. “It’s definitely not a feminist masterpiece,” says she. “It’s soft porn… modern-day prostitution.”

Mary Berry – Love to Cook

8pm, BBC Two

This week Berry meets those who get pleasure out of cooking for a crowd. In Liverpool, she joins the team from Homebaked Bakery, a goal kick away from Liverpool FC’s stadium, who take on the job of feeding fans on match day. She also meets Andrew, whose passion to feed has led him to build a smokehouse in his garden.

Handmade: Britain’s Best Woodworker – The Final

8pm, Channel 4

In the final of this inaugural carpentry competition, Misti (a perfectionist who has twice been woodworker of the week), Charlie (consistent but only scraped into the final after that disastrous drinks-cabinet challenge last week) and Radha (great joinery skills) are told to construct a garden building. “Basically, in two days you are constructing the Eden Project,” Mel Giedroyc quips after taking a peek at Misti’s design. Meanwhile, Rhada gets so bogged down in sticking bits of wood that his famed joinery is in danger of not turning up.

Surgeons: At The Edge Of Life

9pm, BBC Two

At the Royal Papworth Hospital, cardiothoracic surgeon Aman Coonar takes on a challenging case. His patient, 30-year-old Dannee, developed a persistent cough early in 2020. It’s not what you might think given that date and symptom, but a rare type of tumour in her bronchus – the airway that leads to the lung. Aman must operate right up against the pulmonary artery, one of the biggest blood vessels in the body, which has major risks.

Taskmaster

9pm, Channel 4

It’s sad to say goodbye to the latest batch of comedians (and Victoria Coren Mitchell) subjected to the whims of Greg Davies and Alex Horne. Whoever casts the Taskmaster contestants deserves some sort of award. The final assignments include drinking a glass of an unidentified liquid without closing their mouths, describing the Taskmaster by forming letters with their bodies, and proposing to Horne in the most irresistible way. Guz Khan attempts to channel the Godfather movies, while Morgana Robinson opts for dressing as a mermaid. Enjoy.

The Great Escape: Capture

9pm, Channel 5

The final episode of the impressive three-parter recalls the tragic denouement to the mass breakout from Stalag Luft III. The 76 out of the 200 prisoners who did manage to escape had to navigate hostile enemy territory to evade being recaptured. Eventually, 73 were caught, and Hitler ordered more than half of those captured to be murdered by the Gestapo. For the three prisoners who evaded capture, the escape turned into a battle of their own as they crossed Europe to safety in Allied territory.
