The first-person mode is not new for Battle Royale games, it has already appeared in games such as PUBG Mobile/BGMI, Call of Duty Mobile, and Apex Legends. However, in the case of Fortnite, it did have a PVE version called Save the World, which had a first-person mode, but not a permanent FPP mode. While the first-person perspective is useful for aim and shooting, the third-person perspective is better for open-world exploration, tracking opponents, building structures, and donning cosmetics. According to recent leaks, Epic Games is working on a first-person mode (FPP) for Fortnite that might be available very soon in the game.
Speaking of the PVE version in Fortnite which had an FPP view, it had a major flaw in that it only allowed players to see the camera view, which meant they couldn’t see their hands or guns, which is a bummer because a lot of gamers pay a lot of money simply to buy fancy gun skins. So a permanent FPP mode would bring great relief to the players.
This mode in the PVE version isn’t particularly appealing, therefore it’s possible that Epic Games is starting over. This FPP may make a lot of activities chaotic, but it won’t be as tough to follow after some practice. A TPP makes it easier for players to observe the position and react accordingly, however an FPP may reduce the range of view.
Fortnite hints to release an FPP mode in Chapter 3
HYPEX, a reputable leaker and data miner, recently alerted his Twitter followers about Epic Games’ latest project – a first-person mode. The mode is reportedly still in early development, with the team starting work on it with the most recent Chapter 3 Season 3 release. At the moment, there is no release date, but we can expect more information as new updates for Chapter 3 Season 3 arrive.
It’s no wonder that the aforementioned leak about an FPS option has some loopers worried. After over five years of enjoying the game from a third-person perspective, some veteran players may be wary about such a drastic change in the meta.
Furthermore, a first-person mode would render the majority of Fortnite’s skins and cosmetics useless. Last but not least, if not done correctly, constructing and editing in a first-person perspective can be hectic. Players can quickly create structures and change them according to the opponent’s position in the existing TPP mode, but this may not be as efficient in an FPP mode.
Players should not be concerned, however, that Epic Games will force them to play in first-person mode. At best, it’ll be similar to a Zero Build mode, where you can simply play according to your tastes. Many users believe Fortnite is morphing into Apex Legends, and the addition of an FPS mode will only add to this belief. Players have already chastised Epic Games for including the Respawn Van (modeled after Apex Legends’ Respawn Beacons), Loot Vaults, and sliding.
