This means season 3 could start as early as june 5. However, after a number of teasers and leaks over the past number of weeks, it’s now been more or less confirmed by leakers that we will have a live event. 😲🤯#fortnite #fortnitenews #fortniteglitch #fortnitecountdown #chapter3season2 #ch3s2 #chapter3 #gaming.

The final showdown is coming in Fortnite. As of this morning, a countdown has appeared in-game, hovering above each of the floating platforms on the map, projected into the sky, and facing you whatever direction you might be in.

The countdown ends seven days and six hours from the time I’m writing this, and that equates to Saturday, July 20 at 2 PM ET. The event we’re counting down to? This time, it’s not exactly a huge mystery.

We are getting set for Fortnite’s big Polar Peak Monster versus Pressure Plant Robot battle. The “plot” so far is that the volcano unleashed a monster from underneath Polar Peak, which took off with Polar Peak still on its head. It has stomped around the map, mainly near Pleasant Park and Loot Lake, and in the past few weeks, the unseen community of Fortnite citizens have been building a giant robot at Pressure Plant in order to fight it. And this showdown will take place a week from now.

What to expect from this event besides what I just said? What’s not yet clear is if this is just going to be a cinematic event like most of the past ones, as we watch the two fight and no doubt destroy a lot of landmarks we love to be rebuilt or replaced next season, or if players will be able to participate in the battle somehow.

One common thought is that players will actually be able to hurt the monster themselves, as a collective community. Last season’s even had the entire playerbase hacking at a pillar to unvault a weapon, which ended up being the drumgun. There is not a huge leap between that concept, and a monster with say, a trillion HP that requires every active Fortnite player to shoot it with everything they’ve got in order to help the robot (piloted by Singularity, it seems) take it down. I would actually be kind of shocked if this wasn’t how this played out, given that we have been experimenting with cross-serve giant HP pools for two seasons now, and it all seemed like it was leading up to something like this.

This has the potential to be Fortnite’s biggest event yet, which is not a huge shock considering Epic is desperate to top themselves each and every season with something bigger and better. This all started with the meteor strike, and now we’re having giant monster and robot battles. Wild.

Stay tuned for more information and probably an official announcement from Epic soon besides this countdown.
