Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 is drawing to a close, with the current Battle Pass ending in a few weeks. Here's when Season 3 is expected to arrive.
As Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 draws to a close, with the current Battle Pass ending in a few weeks' time, Fortnite players are wondering when Season 3 will start. Although the release date hasn't been officially announced, the new season will likely arrive the day after the current Fortnite Battle Pass ends. Usually, the server downtime between seasons of Fortnite lasts two to four hours. When the servers go back up, players will be able to download the new update and start playing right away.
Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 surprised Fortnite players by completely eradicating building when released in late March 2022. Since then, building has returned to Fortnite with players now able to choose between original and Zero Build modes. It's unknown whether the battle royale game's Zero Build mode will stay for future seasons of Fortnite. However, given its popularity, it seems like the change is permanent. As well as the removal of building, Season 2 introduced sprinting and parkour mechanics, plus tanks and airships.
The current Battle Pass, and the current season of Fortnite, end on Friday, June 3. It's expected that several hours of downtime will follow. When servers become available again, players will be able to install the new Fortnite update. This process usually occurs overnight, meaning that Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 will start the following day: Saturday, June 4, 2022. Chapter 3 Season 2 saw some of the biggest changes ever made to Fortnite, so there are endless possibilities for what Season 3 has in store.
Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 May Add Star Wars' Darth Vader
The upcoming Fortnite chapter is rumored to introduce new licensed characters, including Indiana Jones and Star Wars' Darth Vader. It's unknown whether these characters will be part of Chapter 3 Season 2's Battle Pass, or if they will only be available through Fortnite's Item Shop. Fortnite players are intrigued to see where the game's storyline will go next, as Season 2 saw the arrival of the Imagined Order on the island. NPCs from the Imagined Order and The Seven battle it out in various named locations and IO outposts across the island, seeing them transformed into warzones. Players are tasked with helping push back IO forces, completing quests along the way.
Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 brought with it some of the biggest changes ever made to the battle royale game and will go down in history as the season that removed building, one of Fortnite's most essential components. Season 3 will arrive on Saturday, June 4, following a period of planned downtime, that shouldn't last any longer than four hours. Since moving to Unreal Engine 5 at the beginning of Chapter 3, Fortnite has changed exponentially, adding a wealth of new content and mechanics. While it's not yet known what Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 has in store, Fortnite players can look forward to a new Battle Pass, map changes, and the continuation of the story of the ongoing war between Fortnite's Imagined Order and the Seven.
