V-Bucks bought on PlayStation couldn't previously be accessed on other platforms.

via Epic

There was a time when playing the same game with different people on various platforms felt like a pipedream. That is very much a reality now, and Epic was one of the industry leaders allowing Fortnite players to play together. The system isn't perfect, but Epic continues to tweak it and add new features. This week, for example, PlayStation has been added to Fortnite's shared wallet functionality.

Fortnite's cross-play not only allows you to play with others on different platforms but also allows you to access your Fortnite account on different platforms. One of the issues with that prior to today, at least for those who play Fortnite on PlayStation, was the inability to access V-Bucks you purchased depending on where you bought them. Simply put, if you bought your V-Bucks on PlayStation, the Fortnite currency wouldn't be there for you to check and spend when logging in on Xbox, Android, or PC.

“Starting with the upcoming v20.40 update, V-Bucks purchased on PlayStation may be used across platforms that support Fortnite Shared Wallet,” Epic's new blog post reads. That last bit is an important clarification to make. Even though your shared wallet can now be accessed on PlayStation, it still isn't available on all platforms on which Fortnite can be played.

Nintendo Switch is now the only holdout. Unfortunately, any V-Bucks you buy through the platforms listed above will not show in your account should you play Fortnite on Switch. It should also be noted that this does only apply to V-Bucks you buy. Any of the in-game currency you earn via Battle Pass progression will continue to show up across all platforms, including Nintendo Switch.

If you're someone who will benefit from PlayStation getting shared wallet functionality in Fortnite but the new update doesn't appear to be working, there are two things you can do. First of all, make sure the v20.40 update has actually been applied. Second, you will need to make sure all of the platforms on which you play Fortnite are linked to your Epic Games Account. Your shared wallet won't show across all platforms until that step has been taken.
