Fortnite Chapter 3: How to Get a UFO

Being a live service title, Epic Games makes sure that Fortnite is constantly evolving to keep things feeling fresh. The biggest indicator of this is the seasonal model that Fortnite has employed, providing new challenges and Battle Pass to work through a set amount of time, to a new narrative event, commonly intertwined with another IP or franchise like Marvel, Star Wars, or even the upcoming Dragon Ball Z crossover event.

Fortnite isn't afraid to vault items as well, removing weapons, resources, and gear periodically for various reasons. On occasion, these items resurface either in a new form or as people remember including weapons like the Heavy Assault Rifle to some fan favorite items like Ballers, Launch pads, various consumables, and more. What's more is that many unvaulted items are part of a special event or limited time mode including this latest one.

Alongside the Flying Objects Weekend, Fortnite players will now find UFOs invading the Battle Royale map starting from August 12 to what many assume will be August 15. Alongside the newly unvaulted Impulse Grenades, UFOs can be used similarly to a vehicle and can certainly help win. Here are the locations where players can find and use a UFO.

Where to Find UFOs

Although back for a limited time, UFOs can only be found in six specific locations, meaning they'll likely be highly sought after by everyone dropping in. Last seen during Chapter 2, Season 7, the Fortnite community had a lot of complaints about this vehicle, likely why Epic has decided to only bring them back for a limited time while also reducing the spawn locations.

So, for players interested in finding and using a UFO, they'll want to head to the following six locations:

  • Chonker Speedway - Northern Side of the zone.
  • Greasy Grove - Northeast corner of the zone
  • The Joneses
  • Northeast of Crackshot Cabin
  • Lonesome Watchpost - West of Sleepy Shrubs
  • Tiny Temple - Southeast of the Daily Bugle

How to Use a UFO

Similar to a vehicle, UFOs can be a powerful tool, as it comes with a tractor beam for picking things up, a laser blast which deals significant damage to structures, as well as a Boost for added speed. The laser also deals a low amount of damage to players, but it causes a knock back effect as well which is useful for launching players off structures or high elevations.

However, there are some things players should keep in mind when using one. To keep matches somewhat balanced, UFOs have both a limited battery life as well as set amount of hit points. Moving and using the boost drain the battery life faster, while at 600 hit points, a UFO can be downed basically by one magazine of an assault rifle.

However, UFOs can hold five players at a time, so working together can mitigate a lot of these shortcomings. In addition, players have already found a few strategies making UFOs even more deadly, such as using the tractor beam to lift objects like boulders and using it like a wrecking ball to steamroll players and vehicles. Trees have also proven to be a viable strategy as dropping them either on or having them roll into enemies causes a devastating amount of damage.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
